In June 2026, the Kentucky PSC finalized a general rate case filed by Frontier in summer 2025.  Frontier files Gas Cost Adjustments every quarter to pass-through the actual cost of gas.  But this rate case was for the monthly charges and margins charged on gas sales volume that pay for Frontier operating expenses.

These charges hadn’t changed since 2017.  Since then, inflation on daily expenses has risen 35%, so the 31% increase in Frontier margin was considered reasonable.  Including the cost of gas, the average gas bill goes up about 20%.

This rate case also consolidated the Farm Tap customers into the wider group of utility customers.  Those rates hadn’t changed since 2012.  Farm Taps are fed by pipelines not operated by Frontier, but their gas costs will now be averaged in with all other customers.  A few Daysboro customers had slightly different rates and are now the same as all other Frontier users.

With this rate case, the $1 /month Automated Metering surcharge ended, and the $5 /month Pipe Replacement Program surcharge was cut in half, with a small volume charge to spread the same expense to larger users.

These changes make Frontier rates simpler & uniform across the whole company.
